Just like many other diseases, substance abuse treatment that begins early often has the greatest degree of success. Substance abuse has a powerful effect on an individual, their families and on the community in general.
Substance abuse grows worse gradually. Because of this, many programs do not accept someone with the beginnings of a drug or alcohol program because they do not meet the criteria of a substance abuse disorder.
When you or someone you love is showing signs of substance abuse, you want to get them help as quickly as possible, regardless of what “criteria” they meet.
Solstice Counseling and Wellness Center understands that effective substance abuse treatment often means addressing the problem as soon as symptoms begin, which is why we offer Early Intervention & Prevention Services.
Addiction & The Importance of Early Intervention
If you or a loved one suffers from substance abuse, you know that the addiction did not occur overnight. It began gradually, maybe with a few beers after work with friends or partying in the college dorm after finals. As the addiction grows stronger, the need to feed the addiction also grows.
By identifying addictive behaviors when they first begin to manifest themselves, there is a better chance that you or your loved one can begin living a clean and sober life before any of the ramifications of substance abuse begin.
Statistics are clear that substance abuse does not just affect the person who is suffering from drug or alcohol addiction. As the addiction grows stronger, you or your loved one may turn to crime in order to feed a habit, lose your job because you are arriving at work impaired or be arrested for driving under the influence.
Solstice doesn’t want you or your loved ones to suffer because you allowed a substance abuse problem to grow out of control.
Who Is Early Intervention Recommended For?
The Solstice Early Intervention program is designed for anyone who does not meet criteria for substance abuse disorders but who are demonstrating signs of at-risk substance abuse.
If you or a loved one has tested positive on an employer’s drug test or have been arrested for driving under the influence, you will benefit from the Solstice Early Intervention program.
The program is also helpful for employees who are in safety-sensitive positions so that they can learn how devastating drug and alcohol addiction can be on the safety of others. The program has also proven effective in those who are resistant to treatment.
It is an eight-week program that meets once per week, providing education, awareness and an understanding of the consequences of continued drug and alcohol abuse. After finishing the course, clients are provided a Certificate of Completion.
