Substance abuse is devastating, not only to you, but also to those who love you. Too often, when you need assistance, you do not receive the care you need because you are unable or unwilling to enter inpatient treatment facilities.
It may be because you don’t want to be away from your support system or family may depend on your income so you are unable to leave a job for the time it takes to get clean and sober.
Solstice Wellness Center’s outpatient treatment program may be the answer.
Is Outpatient Treatment Effective?
Substance abuse is an extremely complex and individual illness.
Addiction is a brain disease that impairs brain circuits, including reward, motivation, learning, memory and inhibitory control over behavior. This means that there may be many factors that led you to abuse drugs or alcohol.
Treatment for your addiction must be organized based on your individual needs. Research has shown that outpatient treatment is the most cost-effective method for treating substance abuse, but there are other variables that must be taken into consideration, such as your access to drugs, family support and whether you will commit the length of time necessary to overcome your addiction.
For many, outpatient therapy is extremely effective in managing addiction.
The Benefits of Outpatient Treatment
Outpatient treatment provides you with more freedom of movement in order to spend time with family, go to work, and meet social obligations. In addition, entering outpatient treatment offers you a greater level of privacy as you are able to return to your own home after treatment.
It is important to remember that, in order for outpatient treatment to be successful, it is critical for you to have a strong support system at home. You want family and friends who will help you avoid temptations and provide you with the support you need to fight your addiction so that you remain clean and sober long after the treatment ends.
In addition, inpatient facilities are much more expensive than outpatient facilities. If you have little or no insurance, or if your insurance policy does not cover substance abuse treatment, you can enter treatment with minimal cost to them by choosing an outpatient program.
Features of Outpatient Services
Outpatient treatment programs offer many of the same features that inpatient facilities offer, but in an environment that is much less structured. You can receive the assistance you need while still living at home, seeing your family and living a normal life.
Outpatient programs also allow you to put what you are learning in treatment into real-life practice. Our features of outpatient services include:
• Recovery skills tested in situations as close to “real world” conditions as possible
• “Unbundled” services specified to match each client’s individual needs
• Substance use disorder treatment provided by addiction professionals and clinicians
• Regularly scheduled sessions (usually once or twice per week)
• Individual and group sessions
• Mutual self-help groups
• Parenting skills
• Family education and counseling
• Domestic Violence/Trauma
• Adolescent & Young Adults
• Nutrition education
• Wellness & Self Care
